CERC (California Emergency Response Corps) forms a critical part of California’s emergency response framework. This AmeriCorps program is committed to educating and preparing communities for various emergencies, including natural disasters and public health crises. CERC members, prepared to deploy up to four times a year anywhere in the state, work closely with regional partners. Their focus encompasses aiding local communities in disaster response and recovery, addressing COVID-19 complexities, combating food inequities, and supporting educational and economic opportunities in underserved areas. By fostering civic engagement and social cohesion, CERC plays a pivotal role in strengthening community resilience and readiness against the backdrop of California’s unique emergency response needs.
